AUGUST: Herbalife...The only way is up
Regulatory woes notwithstanding, however, many players in the nutritional supplements market have been doing rather well this year, notably direct selling giant Herbalife, which posted a 35.3% surge in net profit in the second quarter and unveiled plans to make more of its products in-house.
The firm, which has almost a third of the global meal replacement shake market, is confident it can triple volumes by 2020 as it ramps up its presence in emerging markets and expands its distributor base in mature markets through new concepts such as the sports nutrition range Herbalife24.
