“You had ingredient suppliers, you had manufacturers, you had a lot of academics, and it was important for me to get my information out to them in a way that they could actually use.”
Schall, who spoke on the online influencer panel and the state of the industry, spoke on a number of topics. To the dismay of some, he pointed out that online influencers are not going away.
“Grade school kids, their number one aspiration for their career is a YouTuber or a social media influencer. So you have this whole generation of kids who think that’s a normal job. I don’t think this is going to stop any time soon.”
The CPG marketing expert spoke about several trends, including the shift from Google to Amazon.
“Somewhere around 50-54% of people, when they’re doing a consumer product search, they go straight to Amazon. That is the leader right now. It used to be Google, but why take that extra step”
Schall also spoke about traceability in packaging and labeling trends, as well as what is holding back the sports nutrition industry.
