The gut-brain axis
Two pre-conference workshops ran concurrently in the afternoon of Day 1. The workshop on the gut-brain axis included presentations and then a panel discussion from (left to right): Prof Sergio Baranzini from the University of California San Francisco (The role of gut commensal bacteria in multiple sclerosis); Dr Paul Forsythe from the McMaster Brain-Body Institute (Probiotics, antibiotics and the microbiota-gut-brain axis), Dr Paola Tognini from the University of California, Irvine (The intestinal microbiota influences physiology in distal tissues), and Dr Ruth Ann Luna from Texas Children’s Microbiome Center (The microbiome and autism).
