Multivitamins!
It was a big month for multivitamins. A paper was published at the end of October in JAMA that concluded that a daily multivitamin may reduce the risk of cancer by a modest 8%, and this was followed by another paper in November, also from the Physicians’ Health Study (PHS) II study, that found no effect of multivitamins on the risk of developing heart disease for a healthy population of men.
Steve Mister, president and CEO of CRN, wrote a couple of guest articles for us, calling industry to use the results of the cancer study constructively, but cautioning that multivitamins cannot be expected to solve all of our lifestyle-related diseases.
