The potential health benefits of cocoa also featured heavily in the news this month – with scientists from Hershey, Spain and the University of Reading all adding to the ever growing list of potential benefits of cocoa.
Spanish researchers reported that polyphenol-rich cocoa may benefit cholesterol levels, while scientists from the University of Reading reported that cocoa-polyphenols may counter the detrimental effects of oxidative stress during exercise.
Scientists from confectionery giant Hershey reported that cocoa may offer weight management potential, suggesting you may be able to have your cake and eat it.
A fourth study published this month – also from the University of Reading – indicated that cocoa compounds may also benefit eye and brain function.
