Ash from manure burning remains prohibited
The other petition failed by the board was a request to allow the use of ash from manure burning to be used under certain circumstances, even though it currently is a prohibited natural substance. The petition argued it would help generate renewable electricity and boost development of similar commercial processing facilities in the US. The board, however, stood by its prior decision that manure burning is incompatible with organic production principles and not an appropriate way to recycle organic wastes.
