New research service offers insights for probiotics manufacturers

A new research service offered by William Reed, parent company of NutraIngredients-USA, will offer business insights to probiotics manufactures and brand holders as well as companies in other categories.

Called Lumina Intelligence​, the new business intelligence subscription service will offer very granular products and ingredients data. Ewa Hudson, head of market intelligence for the unit, introduced the offering to the US market at this summer's Probiota Americas​ event in Miami, FL. 

“We are focusing on fast growing markets in the nutra space,”​ Hudson said.

Consumer sentiment piece

Hudson said one of the unique features of the service is a measurement of consumer sentiment. It’s one thing to know who your competitors are; it’s another to know how much consumers appear to like your competitor’s products and what in particular they like about them.

“We want to know how consumers feel about the products they have purchased,”​ Hudson said.

Hudson said the service can capture what’s being said online on various platforms about a particular product. Or users can find out what’s being said about a whole category of products; probiotics that target cognitive support, for example. It’s all part of the way in which users will be able to tweak the service to fit their own needs.

Customization possibilities

“There is a lot of customization available on the dashboard. They can research who their competitors are, where their competitor’s products are focused in terms of strains. They can also search to find all the science behind certain strains,” ​Hudson said.
