Brenkus discussed how he came up with the idea to combine sports with science, his thoughts on the dietary supplement industry, and gender equality in sports.
When it comes to dietary supplements, Brenkus said it’s on the industry to educate people, but consumers also have to pay attention. “It’s an exciting space, there’s a lot of snake oil that’s out there, but there’s also stuff that can do quite a bit of good. I think what we’re seeing is a consumer who is interested in something that is all-natural, you know, nothing fake, nothing artificial.”
“In terms of pure supplements, there is not a one-size-fits-all other than minimizing the amount of sugar, the amount of ingredients that are difficult for the body to process, and that’s going to go a long way.”
Brenkus also discussed why he believes boys and girls should be playing the same sports, with the same rules, on the same field. “The idea that ‘bigger, stronger, faster’ means that you’re better, is wrong.”
