While we don’t know to what extent these label claims were purchase drivers, Nielsen data (Nielsen Product Insider, powered by Label Insight, 52 weeks ending 01/28/2017) shows that Fair Trade product sales were+14% to $1.5bn; products making BPA-free claims were up 12% to $3bn; products making sustainable farming claims were up 11% to $31bn and products making animal welfare claims were up 4% to $10.2bn.
