Lisa Parks, RPh joined the Consumer Healthcare Products Association with over three decades of experience practicing pharmacy, managing organizational change initiatives at the FDA and overseeing scientific and regulatory affairs, today she embarks on a new journey as Senior Vice President of Regulatory & Scientific Affairs.

Parks is slated to lead the regulatory and scientific affairs team at CHPA and build upon the successes achieved over the last 14 years under the leadership of retiring SVP Dr. Barbara Kochanowski.

With a background in pharmacy, Parks said pharmacists have traditionally been unsung heroes of the consumer and self care arena.

“As a pharmacist I was always out in front talking to the consumer about products, I would have patients coming in saying, ‘Hey doc, what do you recommend for my seasonal allergies?’ Or ‘My baby has a cold, so what do you recommend?’ And, and really having that dialogue in person nowadays, you don't have that opportunity [because] everyone is getting busier and busier. And as pharmacists have less opportunities to come into the floor space.”

When it comes to dietary supplements, Parks added that she looks forward to working closely with Duffy Mackay to ensure that CHPA is “able to provide a good landscape of bi-directional communication with regulators to ensure that there is accurate information on dietary supplements, that the regulatory landscape for dietary supplements is in order for industry to bring a product to market is very clear and that it is not overly burdensome.”
