Major Canadian online retailer National Nutrition has signed a deal to add a line of liquid supplements to its already extensive product offerings. It has also added a line of fish oil supplements.

National Nutrition, based in Orilla, Ontario, announced the deal with Land Art supplements yesterday.  Land Art, a family owned firm founded in 1992, specializes in liquid supplements.

Longtime liquid supplement producer

The deal involves 55 of Land Art’s liquid products, which are produced at the company’s Ecocert NOP organic-certified facility in Varennes, Quebec.  The company advertises that its supplements are 100% made in Canada.

Land Art’s specialties are chlorophyll supplements as well as aloe vera products.  The company also has an extensive list of vitamins and mineral products, liquid collagen, and condition specific formulas.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer our products to National Nutrition's customers," says Andréanne Levac, Director Of Marketing at Land Art. "National Nutrition is a leader in this space, and we know that their loyal customers will love our products."

National Nutrition's CEO Darren Firth says, "Our customers will love Land Art's liquid supplements, their quality is second to none." He continues, "Liquid supplements are a wonderful option for those who don't like to swallow pills, and we love how clean and efficacious Land Art's supplements are.”

In addition to Land Art’s liquid supplements, National Nutrition also announced today it has added relatively new Canadian brand AquaOmega omega-3 fish oils to its lineup.  The company advertises that its anchovy fish oils are processed daily from freshly caught fish at its extraction facility in Northern Chile.

Sustainability questions

The anchovy fishery off Peru and Chile provides the lion’s share of the world’s omega-3 supplement servings from fish oil.  The fishery is at the same time one of the world’s most productive as well as heavily exploited. The stocks are managed individually by branches of each country’s government.

A recent assessment by UK body IFFO RS of the Chilean anchovy fishery found that the stock is over-exploited but “has moved away from the limit level of collapse (8% chance of being depleted).”  The report gave the fishery a ‘passing’ grade.  The report noted that the fish species is listed as ‘least concern’ by conservation authorities.

AquaOmega offers both liquid and encapsulated fish oil products. Both are offered in high EPA or high DHA forms depending on consumer preference.
