Lycored debuts new East Coast facility
International wellness company Lycored announced its new facility as the company continues to increase its output capacity.
The FDA-registered, cGMP-complaint and NSF-certified facility will house carotenoids, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, as well as food ingredients. The additional space will allow for advanced capabilities for milling, blending, drying, and coating, with extensive opportunities for customization.
The site also features an application lab and production line supporting taste application development. Lycored said it developed a plant-based range of resolute reds, oranges, yellows and golds that are constantly being refined and rigorously tested to maintain their hue in the particular product formulation they appear outperforming many natural and synthetic options in a variety of food and beverage applications.
Lycored’s new plant marks a major investment as the company works on creating a vertically-integrated system. “The system is designed to carefully control the entire journey from seed to supplement for our key products which allows us to maximize wellness and efficacy, minimize waste and take care of the earth along the way”, said Zev Ziegler, Head of Global Brand & Marketing, Health for Lycored.
According to a statement, the plant was intentionally designed to maximize the purity, efficacy, and shelf-stability of Lycored’s vitamins, supplements and food and beverage ingredients while also increasing its output capacity, including microencapsulation, blending and packaging capabilities.
Some of the new machinery at the Branchburg facility includes an air mill for micronizing and grinding material, a Pk100 blender with 100 cubic feet and 2.5 metric ton batch capacity, a Pk60 blender with 1.6 metric ton capacity, PK blenders with 18 and 20 cubic feet capacity for smaller blends and industrial trials, fluid-bed blender and a high-shear mixer.
‘All health breaks loose’
“Our Branchburg facility boasts formidable milling and blending proficiency with state-of-the-art technology. It allows us to optimize nutrient efficacy and bioavailability while providing innovative formulations perfectly tailored to our customers’ requirements. When you prioritize quality at every step of the journey, all health breaks loose,” said Shirley Cohen, CEO at Lycored.
The company has also taken measures to significantly reduce waste and preserve resources, including a reduced reliance on energy and transportation, AI-powered planting and harvesting systems as well as single-solvent tomato oleoresin extraction that reduces water usage.
“For more than a quarter of a century, we’ve been inspired to find new ways to make the most of natural nutrients for supplements and blends. We’ve learned a lot along the way, reinventing and streamlining countless processes to maximize wellness and minimize waste. We’re now excited to share the fruits of that journey in our brand-new, state-of-the-art custom production facility,” said Cohen.
To mark the occasion, Lycored has put out a quirky “virtual VIP tour” video to provide an entertaining and educational look around the new plant.
