Amanda Frick, ND, LAc, VP of Medical Affairs at Thorne, was trained as a Naturopathic Doctor and Acupuncturist. She’s passionate about facilitating health and wellness by driving innovation, education, and safety of dietary supplements. She’s been in the industry in various capacities for the last two decades. Looking back, Frick said the industry has come a long way.

“I feel like when I started and was getting into it, it was like a little bit of a fringy thing, and you could get some supplements at the health food store, or at the herb store, maybe Whole Foods,” said Frick. “But now it's like, it's all over. It's so much more mainstream and I think people have a better understanding of it. So I think what I've seen change the most is it has just become part of everyday life now.”

When it comes to trends, Frick said she is enjoying the focus on women’s health and wellness.

“Obviously there's been a recent trend about blood sugar management and weight loss in relation to buzz around berberine and some other ingredients like that. But as an offshoot of that, I think what we've seen in the last year is a lot of focus or people asking about support for PCOS, which I really like that conversation focused on women,” said Frick. “Not even just PCOS, there's so many great options for lifestyle and personalized supplementation which is really better than what their traditional options are.”
