Founded in 2018, Novozymes OneHealth was created with the mission to “rethink tomorrow within human health”. Its ingredient portfolio includes a range of microbiome-related products, such as postbiotics, probiotics, and enzymes.
At the upcoming SupplySide West show in Las Vegas, the company will showcase its diverse products across brain, oral, and protective immune health.
These include Pylopass Limosilactobacillus reuteri (formerly known as Lactobacillus reuteri) DSM 17648, a postbiotic solution that may help to reduce the load of Helicobacter pylori in the stomach. H. pylori affects about half of the global population and the bacterium may cause gastric upset.
Also at the show, the company will present its probiotic solution for mental wellness called ProbioBrain Bifidobacterium longum 1714. The strain is supported by data from two placebo- controlled clinical trials, which showed an ability to help adults handle the psychological and physical responses to everyday stress, help reduce cortisol output in response to everyday stress, and help to maintain a calm state of mind and emotional balance.
Stress management and mood support are among the hottest categories with US supplement consumers, with brain health supplements in North America predicted to be worth $4 billion by 2025, with an expected growth rate of 7.2%.
Formulators will also be able to explore OneHealth’s enzyme combination for eliminating oral malodor for up to four hours. Self-perceived ‘bad breath’ may affect as much as half of Americans surveyed and disturbs the intimacy of 70% of consumers surveyed. The ingredient BioFresh 4+ is said to contain a plant extract that binds bad breath-causing molecules and neutralizes them in a multistep reaction, without harming the oral microbiota.
Novozymes OneHealth will also introduce BioFresh Clean, a new oral health solution that responds to consumers’ need for more efficient and convenient oral care solutions. BioFresh Clean is a clinically proven enzyme combination that immediately removes and reduces oral biofilm for a cleaner and healthier oral cavity, while maintaining a healthy oral microbiome, said the company.
The company will also showcase its chickpea-derived vitamin K2-7, MenaquinGold. The ingredient is positioned to support bone and heart health, while promising new science also shows benefits related to nerve and sports health.
A recent Council of Responsible Nutrition (CRN) report emphasized the risk-reducing effect vitamin K2 supplementation could have on the occurrence of adverse heart-related events. The report found that in 2022 alone, if all US adults aged 55 or above had taken a vitamin K2 supplement, the net cost savings expected from reduced health care-attributed expenditures would have been $7.87 billion.
