Ingredients by Nature boasts new benefits, upcycling efforts of CoffeeFruit Pure

Through recent independent testing and processing advancements, Ingredients by Nature recently announced the additional benefits of an expanded nutrient profile of CoffeeFruit Pure, an upcycled natural ingredient that processes the discarded coffee cherry to create a highly potent antioxidant.

CoffeeFruit Pure recently underwent processing advancements and testing. Its North American distributor, Ingredients by Nature, said there are now new added benefits from the ingredient that is sourced exclusively in Costa Rica.

CoffeeFruit Pure contains naturally occurring nutrients, including high levels of polyphenols, magnesium, potassium, dietary fiber and chlorogenic acid. This unique nutrient combination provides additional benefits that support blood sugar levels, gut health, cardiovascular health, skin health, and metabolic health. The significant levels of magnesium and potassium also provide protection for, and recovery of, muscle mass for sports nutrition solutions. 

Despite these benefits and the popularity of coffee itself, Rob Brewster, president of Ingredients by Nature, told NutraIngredients-USA that on a consumer level, this ingredient is still under the radar. “But with the test results and consumer focus on sustainability, we are seeing an uptick in recognition and interest from manufacturers. So, it is only a matter of time before consumers start to pick up on the value of this fruit-based superfood,” ​he said.

Coffee is the most popular beverage in the world, with more than 400 billion cups consumed each year. In the US alone, over 450 million cups of coffee are consumed daily, according to Publications International, LTD. However, the beverage's popularity has also resulted in 24 million tons of waste produced annually from discarded outer fruit and pulp of the coffee cherry. 

Using the leftovers 

Through upcycling, CoffeeFruit Pure addresses this waste issue through its development of an all-natural, specialized production process, which preserves the fruit and pulp, allowing CoffeeFruit Pure to transform the coffee cherry into a potent antioxidant. 

“Recent independent tests have shown that CoffeeFruit Pure contains high levels of antioxidant activity, including polyphenols and chlorogenic acid, which surpasses the capacity of other fruit-derived superfoods,”​ said Stuart Nixon, business development director at CoffeeFruit Pure. “The antioxidant levels of the cherry, along with the high potency of additional key nutrients within it, allow us to make an ingredient that suits most formulation applications across a wide spectrum of sought out benefits. Forms and applications 

Applications range from food, beverage, dietary supplements, and personal care products.

CoffeeFruit Pure uses no solvents, chemicals, or additives in the production process and is ready to meet the consumer demand for clean labels and sustainable ingredients. It is available in a variety of grinds, from fine powder to a rough tea cut.
