NIU celebrates innovators making their mark on women's health

Across a woman’s lifetime, we experience a variety of differing health challenges. The Innovations in Women's Health Award, first introduced in 2022, set out to identify innovators that our judges could confidently call the ‘best of the best.’

This year, NutraIngredients-USA is pleased to name Gencor’s Libifem as the winner of the Innovations in Women's Health Award. Libifem is a standardized fenugreek extract that helps with sexual health and menopausal symptoms. The extract contains saponins that support healthy levels of estradiol in women and has been clinically shown to promote a woman’s healthy sexual vitality and desire, as well as help alleviate normal symptoms of menopause.

“Libifem is a specially designed, woman-centric ingredient, that was created to support women through their stages of life offering menopausal relief, sexual health support, and now muscle strength, and power,” stated R.V. Venkatesh, Gencor Managing Director.

Gencor supports women through their lives to help mitigate the natural aging process that is too frequently associated with discomfort, by providing a clinically-backed solution, but female health needs and nutrition reach way beyond menopause. Gencor wants to encourage clinical research in female sports nutrition and pave the way for further golden standard research in this market.”

Leading the way with science

As a long-standing supplier in the nutrition industry, Venkatesh said Gencor has always been acutely aware that there is a general lack of female-centric clinical research–especially in the sports nutrition dome. He said being able to show proof of Libifem's efficacy is what it's all about.

“Verifying the true efficacy of our ingredients is the most rewarding part of our work in this market. Being able to, not only provide a clinically proven solution to offer support during the different stages of a woman’s life, but to also improve female athletes with strength and performance is why Gencor invests so much time and effort into clinical studies and research for our ingredients. The study with our ingredient Libifem is the change we would like to inspire.”

Competitive edge

As interest in research, ingredients and products for women grows, so does the competition. The Innovations in Women’s Health category ushered in many entries, making this one of the most competitive categories.

“We are very proud to be considered among the best and brightest ingredients in the nutrition industry,” said Venkatesh. “Winning the NutraIngredients-USA Awards for Innovations in Women’s Health is an honor. Not only are the NIU Awards well recognized and revered, but winning the award in this category is even more of an honor and amazing!”
