More enforcement of supplement regs needed, NPA members told lawmakers
Members of NPA lined up early outside the Senate Hart building to meet with congressional leaders and tell them that the dietary supplement industry may not be regulated the same as prescription drugs, but it is sufficiently regulated with good manufacturing practices, advertising oversight from FTC and more generally under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act by FDA. Many also recognized that there are some bad actors in the industry, but they are not the majority and should be enforced against more aggressively. To this end, NPA members urged representatives and senators to support additional funding for increased FDA inspections and enforcement of supplement regulations.
