Some of the highlights of research assessing the relationship between diet and the grey matter this year included studies on top-selling brain supplement FOCUSfactor (focus, working memory, concentration); L-theanine and Cognizin Citicoline for attention; walnuts for ‘inferential reasoning’; multivitamins and choline for memory; resveratrol and pterostilbene for cognitive function; pine bark extract for alertness, mood and memory; multivitamins for alertness and mood; fish oil for depression; and finally the potent red antioxidant astaxanthin for reducing the abnormal accumulation of certain compounds associated with dementia.
