Cardiovascular health
A lot of research was published about the relationship between diet and cardiovascular health in 2011.
Some of the highlights included studies on acai berries and omega-3s for their anti-inflammatory effects; soy isoflavones, cocoa, pea protein and seaweed for lowering blood pressure; cranberry juice for tackling arterial stiffness; lingonberry juice for blood vessel functioning; pantethine, fermented garlic, soy protein, and strawberry extracts for cholesterol reduction; aronia berries for improved blood flow; olive extracts for reducing oxidized LDL cholesterol and omega-3s for reducing arterial stiffness and lower homocysteine levels.
