Capsules sold for fat loss have been recalled from the US market after an FDA analysis discovered they contained an undeclared weight loss drug.

The presence of sibutramine in the Zhen De Shou Fat Loss Capsules makes them an unapproved drug, said the nation’s regulator.

Sibutramine is an FDA approved drug used as an appetite suppressant for weight loss. It is known to increase blood pressure and pulse rate in some people, and so may present a significant risk for patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias or stroke, said the agency.

Supplier Fashion Sanctuary is recalling the products in cooperation with FDA.
