Penthouse moves into dietary supplements market with ‘liquid libido’ shots

The ‘liquid libido’ shots range, developed in partnership with alcoholic drinks distributor Prestige Imports, include Per4mance Shots for men and Pleasure Shots for women with a RRP of $4.99.

Prestige director of marketing Tom Cleaver told NutraIngredients-USA that the shots had been in development for 18 months and had been “tested by actresses and actors on adult content movies​”, although he did not provide details of any clinical trials.

Drink 20 minutes before ‘physical activity’​

Customers are advised to “drink one bottle 20 minutes before physical activity for best results​” and told not to consume more than two bottles a day.

Feedback from the market had been very positive, said Cleaver, who said he was in talks with all of the major food, drug, mass market and natural food retailers in the US about securing listings.

“IRI data shows retail sales in the sexual enhancement segment were up 57.7% in the last 52 weeks in North America.”​

Natural aphrodisiacs​

Pleasure Shots for women are “specifically designed to encourage a pleasurable response in females​”, claims the firm. “[They] combine safe and effective natural aphrodisiacs herbs with body building vitamins to create a supplement that is sure to ‘ignite’ sexual relaxation and sensation.”​

The ingredients list includes B vitamins, taurine, caffeine, yohimbe bark, damiana leaf extract, eleutherococcus extract, epimedium extract, gaba, gingko biloba extract, glucuronolactone, green tea extract, kuding tea extract, muira puama bark, n-acetyl l-tyrosine, panax ginseng extract, passion flower extract and white tea extract.

Per4mance Shots for men are in turn “specifically designed to improve the sexual experience for men”,​ adds the firm.

“The Per4mance Shot combines well-known vitamins and herbs which are said to have aphrodisiac properties. We’ve spent a great amount of time testing to find the right combination of these ingredients that will ‘ignite’ desire and stamina.”​

The ingredients list includes B vitamins, taurine, caffeine, yohimbe bark extract, damiana leaf extract, dong quai, epimedium extract, eleutherococcus extract, gaba, gingko biloba extract, glucuronolactone, l-arginine hcl, licorice root, lycium, muira puama bark, n-acetyl l-tyrosine and panax ginseng extract.
