NSF International has given BI Nutraceuticals' West Coast manufacturing facility located in McCarran, NV its SQF 2000 (Safe Quality Food) certificate.

SQF 2000 certification is a Global Food Safety Initiative recognized scheme, which was launched to enhance food safety, ensure consumer protection and strengthen consumer confidence.

“BI has set the industry standard for ingredient quality control and testing and this certification gives our customers another layer of assurance that our ingredients have been produced, processed, prepared and handled according to the highest possible food safety and quality standards,” stated George Pontiakos, President and CEO, BI Nutraceuticals.

SQF 2000 is a HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) based food safety and quality management system, explained the company. The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) makes it mandatory for all dietary supplement raw material suppliers to perform hazard analysis and have a risk-based food safety plan.
