Global health and wellness brand Tranont has launched a new supplement range designed to support women’s health, with a focus on muscle strength, energy, cognition and focus.

The range includes three supplements: Tranont For Her for menopausal symptom relief, an easy-to-digest whey protein powder and a creatine supplement for the ‘mind and body’.

Combining EstroG-100 and ashwagandha, Tranont For Her contains a patented blend of herbal extracts used in traditional Chinese medicine.

EstroG-100 has been studied in five clinical studies in women over the age of 40 undergoing various stages of the menopause. One study showed that a 514 mg dose of the herbal mix (Cynanchum wilfordii, Phlomis umbrosa and Angelica gigas) enhanced postmenopausal women’s quality of life over a 12-week intervention period, while another showed its ability to improve hot flashes.

Ashwagandha was chosen as an adjunct ingredient for its ability to promote healthy cortisol levels, thereby acting as a stress reliever.

Speaking on the launch, Thomas Cutler, Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board at Tranont, told NutraIngredients that the formula was chosen because it is “clinically proven, natural, effective and ideal for our market.”

Clear: A ‘lighter’ protein

Protein is crucial for women’s health, particularly after the age of 30 when the body naturally starts to lose 3% to 5% of muscle mass per decade.

However, some protein powders can be difficult to digest, which can result in nausea, dehydration, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, stomach pain and decreased appetite.

To overcome these challenges, Tranont launched two clear protein powders which are “lighter and more refined” than traditional whey protein powders.

“Clear protein is a new format of whey protein [which is] unique from the whey market,” said Cutler. “Clear protein is easier on the stomach than traditional whey protein. The methods of making clear whey protein remove additional fats and sugars, including lactose, [which] eases digestion.”

The clear protein powders come in two strawberry-flavored formulations: Clear and Clear+, with the latter containing a natural caffeine and immunity boost with the addition of green tea extract and L-theanine.

A ‘cognitive creatine’

The final product in Tranont’s supplement launch is a creatine monohydrate powder, fortified with Alpha-GPC and sage extract.

While the benefits of creatine supplementation for improving strength and performance are well-established, research suggests it may also have favorable effects on mood, cognition and bone health when combined with resistance training.

Since women naturally have significantly lower levels of creatine within their bodies (roughly 70% to 80% less than men) and since bone mineral density loss, brain fog and mood changes are common among women during the menopause journey, menopausal women are emerging as a key target market for this supplement.

By adding sage extract and Alpa-GPC, Tranont’s creatine aims to provide additional cognitive benefits. While sage extract has high levels of rosmarinic acid (the bioactive compound responsible for cognitive benefits), Alpha-GPC is a precursor to acetylcholine, an important neurotransmitter involved in learning and memory processes.

“It’s a cognitive creatine, not a ‘workout-exclusive’ creatine,” said Cutler. “Creatine is natural fuel for the mind and the body, and we have added Alpha-GPC and sage extract to help reinforce and heighten these benefits.”

Tranont’s creatine monohydrate currently comes in Orange Dream and unflavored, with more flavor profiles soon to come.
