A new clinical trial evaluated 250mg/day Pomella® Extract for beneficial effects on the gut microbiome, circulating short chain fatty acids, and gut-microbial derived ellagitannin metabolites, including
A 162% increase in propionate levels (p = 0.02) and a 38% increase in acetate levels (p = 0.12) was observed with Pomella®.1 There was an increase in several bacterial species with Pomella®, indicating pomegranate ellagitannins induced shifts in bacteria that may influence overall health through modulation of short-chain fatty acids, secondary metabolites, and urolithin A synthesis.
