“Even though I’m not traditionally from this industry, I was heading there personally on my own wellness journey,” she said. “It was kind of a magical opportunity for me.”
With Briggs at the helm as CEO, The Synergy Company will continue to invest in vertical integration, innovative manufacturing methods, sustainable ingredient development and more. It also plans to explore new directions to meet the growing demand for natural and sustainable health and wellness solutions. The company said Briggs’ rich experience across industries will be instrumental in advancing that vision.
Reflecting on her leadership roles, Briggs said effective leaders foster respectful, human‑centered growth and mutual trust. She noted that in order to get there, it’s important to be intentional and candid rather than “overly nice.”
“When you tackle hard problems together, there are always learning experiences, and if you take an approach like that, it enables you to have harder conversations that are still incredibly respectful [and] incredibly human-centered,” she said.
“They taught me a lot, too, and I think there’s a [lot of] giving and receiving here. If you’re in the top seat especially, you have to still be receiving information from people. You can’t think of it as a place of power, you have to think of it as a place of responsibility, a place of duty, a place of stewardship and that enables a whole set of different relationships with the people that you work with.”
With only around 10% of women in CEOs roles in the U.S., Briggs said companies have historically characterized the idea of a CEO in a limited way, and it is up to women like her to redefine what a CEO can be for the future.
“We have to work in the field of cleverness and ingenuity and that to me fundamentally redefines what a CEO is,” she said. “We all need to realize that women leaders are really good at that almost intuitively and to be open for a different kind of leadership for the future…And I think women can be a force for good there.”
