Nouri founder on addressing diverse needs of women at every life stage
Following her spot on stage for the Women’s Health Panel at IPAWC + Probiota Americas, Carralero took a moment to discuss the importance of microbiome health in various stages of women's lives.
From the impact of the mother’s microbiome on the baby during pregnancy to the significance of microbiome in regulating estrogen during menopause, Carralero noted how emerging research only further underscores how important the microbiome is to women’s health.
Products addressing menopause health have shown success in the market, reflecting growing consumer awareness and demand. Additionally, Carralero said consumer interest and education is paving the way for funding in women's health–particularly in the gut microbiome space.
"That's been the interesting and really cool aspect of seeing even this conference over the last few years, these topics that we've talked about in gut-brain or hormone health, really that research be funded," she added. "And then from that research, good structure/function claims can be available so that we can get those products out to the consumers.
"Consumers understand as much as we tell them as far as the structure/function claims are concerned. So that level of understanding is really kind of where the rubber meets the road, I always like to say. So what we can legally and with good clinical evidence tell the consumer, they are really understanding and grasping, which is really cool to see. So as we make additional progress on the research side, that turns into innovation, which then turns into commercialization distribution, which is where the consumers are at.”
