Seven independent US brands were chosen as winners of the Kaneka Innovation Award Program and will receive $150,000 of the newly launched probiotic product line, Floradapt.

The announcement marks the end of Phase 1 of the award program, with contest winners receiving up to 5,000 free units of one of the company’s three key Floradapt products: Baby Colic, Cardio, and Intensive GI probiotic finished product.

“We had a fine group of companies demonstrate their enthusiasm for this innovative contest and are thrilled about our future collaboration with the selected winners,” said Mike Kolifrath, Vice President of the Kaneka Probiotics Division.

Due to legal approval processes, only Dr Vita has been names, but Kaneka confirmed that the other winners are “mid-sized US supplement companies”.

Phase 2 of the awards will launch at Expo West and will then provide a clinical trial grant in the amount of $150,000. This is open to all US and Canadian industry manufacturers, said the company.

Kolifrath continued: “Similar to the Free Product Contest Giveaway, applications for Phase 2 of the KIAP can be submitted by contacting us directly or turning in an application on the spot at Expo West 2020. We strongly believe in these new products to better serve today's consumer demands.”

The products

The company’s Floradapt range currently consists of eight probiotic formulations for specific health targets; cardiovascular health, baby colic, digestive health, gastrointestinal health, mature immune defense, gum health, urinary tract health, and vaginal health.
