Sign up for Digestive Health Conference, set for this Wednesday
What’s the latest evidence for the effects of probiotics? What about prebiotics? What are the current market trends? The answers to these and other questions can be heard in an online conference scheduled for this Wednesday.

The Online Digestive Health Conference is being hosted by NutrIngredients-USA and is scheduled for this Wednesday, Nov. 15 starting at 11:30 AM Eastern time.  Among the speakers for the event are Dr. Jen Walter, PhD, of the University of Alberta.  Dr. Walter will lay out the latest research on microbiome diversity. Dr. Walter has done a great deal of work in this area, including in sequencing the microbiomes of indigenous populations in Papua New Guinea and in the Venezuelan rain forest.  Is more diverse better?  What should product formulators be looking to accomplish in terms of altering the microbiome?  Should we be looking to reintroduce families of microbes that have disappeared from the modern gut?  Dr. Walter will look at these question in detail.

Panel discussion

Another session will consist of a forum discussion among four panelists.  The panelists are:

  • Anthony Thomas PhD, science director for Jarrow Formulas
  • Matthew A. Roberts, PhD, executive vice president and chief technical and quality officer for Pharmavite
  • George Paraskevakos, executive director of the International Probiotics Association
  • Ivan Wasserman, a partner in the law firm Amin Talati Upadhye.

The forum will discuss questions such as the state of claims enforcement, where products development is going, and what the state of the market is and what growth trends can be expected in the near term.

The event will also include presentations by Anurag Pande, PhD, of Sabinsa Corporation, Samantha Ford, of AIDP Inc. and Dr. Gregor Reid, PhD, director of the Canadian R&D Centre for Human Microbiome and Probiotics and the Lawson Research Institute.
