Nutraceutical formulator and manufacturer the Rhema Group has announced it will close its Ogden, Utah facility at the end of the year, affecting the facility’s 35 employees.

The company, which develops the all-natural flavorings used by some of the largest brands in nutritional supplements, will consolidate its Vancouver operations in mid-2017 to a more efficient nearby facility.

The changes are being implemented due to a strategic focus on patented product innovation and formulation development, modifying its contract manufacturing to be a value-added service rather than being the predominant focus of the business, said the company in a press release.

“We have been proud to work with our dedicated, skilled employees at the Ogden facility and we are optimistic that they will find new opportunities very quickly, given Utah’s extremely low unemployment rate of less than one per cent,” said Rick Gagner, CEO of Canada-based Rhema.

“At the same time, we are excited to focus on working with clients and our science-based development and formulation team, led by Franco Cavaleri, BSc, PhDc, to add more patented, science-based products to the nutraceutical market.”
