The POS Group of Companies has created a new US subsidiary, Batavia Bio Processing Limited, following the acquisition of an Illinois-based facility, and the company is eyeing further international expansion.

POS, which provides contract R&D, scale-up / process development, and toll processing services for various ingredient industries, acquired the 24,750 square-foot facility to better serve its US clients. Seventy-five percent of the company’s current business is already in the US.

“This facility will help us better serve our clients, and will be operated as a contract R&D / toll processing center,” said Dale Kelly, President and CEO of the POS Group of Companies. “Its technology and the upgrades made over the past five years will offer our clients a unique facility to create innovative new processes and products.”

The facility includes four processing lines, from lab to commercial scale. POS will serve industries with several bio-based service needs including: short-path distillation (SPD), fractional distillation (FD), continuous ethylation, and TAG re-esterification, as well as large tank capacity, blending, and tanker unloading. These technologies are key to fish and Omega-3 oil companies, the fragrance and flavor industries, and similar bio-based organizations and industries.
