Probiota Americas is five weeks away, where pre- and probiotic stakeholders will share the latest insights in science, regulatory, market and business opportunities in North and South America.

Organized by the publishers of, Probiota Americas will explore the probiotic scientific frontier, its evolution and commercial application in food, supplements and related product areas.

“Probiota Americas will bridge the gap between scientific discovery and commercial application," said Stephen Daniells, PhD, Senior Editor of and Editorial Consultant to Probiota Americas. "The US market for probiotic food, beverages and supplements was a whopping $10.3 billion in 2013 with growth of 12.4%.  Cutting edge science is deepening our understanding of the microbiota and consumers are looking for products to support a range of conditions, from digestive health to cholesterol management, immune system and brain health.

“Probiota Americas will bring together scientists and business leaders in a unique forum for knowledge sharing and information exchange.  In addition, we’re offering insights from and for the emerging South American market, where the retail value of probiotic supplements alone has increased by almost 44% over the last five years.”

Probiota Americas will be held annually in San Diego.  Its three day agenda will combine a plenary conference with a high level networking program and a series of interactive panel debates, discussions, presentations and poster sessions.  Themes for 2015 will include:

•              Obesity and the metabolism:  Latest thinking about the role of microflora in regulating weight and other metabolic conditions and its commercial impacts.
•              The gut-brain axis:  Can modulating gut bacteria reduce stress and anxiety?  And how must our industry adjust to focus on ‘mind’ as well as ‘body’ health.
•              Regulation and marketing:  A review of regulatory developments across the regions and how consumer education can be conducted in an era of cautious regulation.
•              Performance and sport:  Latest research that suggests pre & probiotics can boost performance as well as aid recovery.  How might this extend opportunities in the sports market?
•              Look to the future:  The next generation of products and methodologies to protect gut health.  What will they be and where will they come from?

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from thought leaders, including:

- Dr Emeran Mayer, Director, Oppenheimer Center for Neurobiology of Stress, UCLA
- Dr Deshanie Rai, Senior Associate Director, Bayer HealthCare
- Dr John Bienenstock, Distinguished University Professor, McMaster Brain-Body Institute

Maximizing market potential

Probiota Americas will build upon the success of the global Probiota event held annually in Europe for the past eight years.  “The Americas continues to drive global growth for the probiotic category.  It is one of the fastest developing ingredient sectors for both food and supplements, in more than just immunity and digestion,” said Len Monheit, recently appointed General Manager of William Reed Business Media, organizers of Probiota Americas and publishers of

“Interest across all channels is so high we believe the America’s region is now ready for a Probiota event of its own, focused on its particular issues and unique market dynamics.  Our aim will be to help organizations maximize market potential by accelerating the progress of new innovations from the lab to the retail shelf.”

The venue for Probiota Americas 2015 will be the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina in San Diego, where an exclusive suite will combine business and networking facilities for all delegates.
