DSM launches concentrated DHA + EPA omega-3 oil from algae
DSM has launched the first high-potency vegetarian DHA and EPA omega-3 oil developed from an algal source under the brand name life’sOMEGA 60.

According to the company, the new product contains the highest concentration of EPA/DHA available in a vegetarian product and provides all the same great benefits of krill and fish oil.

“Fish oil has gained in popularity due to its known heart health benefits; however, many people are unaware that fish do not produce their own DHA and EPA. In fact, it’s the microalgae in their food chain that makes them a rich source of these omega-3s,” said Doug Brown, Senior Director, Nutritional Lipids.

“life’sOmega 60 is a highly sustainable and vegetarian alternative to fish oil, making it easy for consumers to get the same health benefits.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US. The American Heart Association has recommended the consumption of polyunsaturated fats, specifically omega-3 fatty acids, for good heart health.
