GRAS affirmation for heart healthy tomato extract Fruitflow
An independent expert panel has found the powdered version of tomato-based heart-health ingredient Fruitflow to be Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS).

A patented tomato extract proven to reduce the aggregation of the blood platelets responsible for blood clots, the trigger for heart attacks and strokes, Fruitflow is one of just a handful of functional ingredients to gain a coveted health claim in Europe.

This states that 3g of Fruitflow “helps maintain normal platelet aggregation, which contributes to healthy blood flow".

GRAS affirmation for Fruitflow, which was developed by UK-based firm Provexis and commercialized by partner DSM Nutritional Products, “will help to unlock the substantial commercial opportunities available in North America”, said Provexis CEO Stephen Moon.

The first orders of Fruitflow powder have been received from six customers in international markets, revealed Moon, who said the powder is suitable for a range of products including soft gels, capsules and tablets.

Fruitflow recently made its beverage debut in the US in a range of tomato juices from the Langer Juice Company. Click here for details.
