‘Memory enhancing’ ingredient boasts new beverage potential
Alchem USA has launched a new concentrated liquid form of natural plant extract vinpocetine for beverage applications and claims the ingredient can enhance memory and alertness.

The highly dispersible, high clarity ingredient – vinpocetine is an alkaloid ultimately derived from the periwinkle or Voacanga Africana plant – is branded ReQollect Solution, and the company claims it can also be used in pre-workout formulations to improve focus and coordination.

The new liquid variant (a powder form for capsules, tablets and softgel applications already exists) can be formulated within a wide range of beverage and liquid preparations, Alchem USA said, such as dairy drinks, juices, functional waters, energy shots and pre-workout supplements.

Given that poor blood circulation in the brain was one of the most significant triggers for cognitive decline, Alchem USA claims that Vinpocetine works by boosting brain blood circulation, enhancing use of oxygen and glucose.

‘Clinically supported ingredient’

Laurent Leduc, Alchem USA COO, said: "We developed this product to support our customers’ needs for a highly soluble, clinically supported ingredient for cognitive function,”

Alchem says its branded vinpocetine extract is of a high purity, where it is produced at the company’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) certified facility.

The company added that the ingredient had been subjected to multiple published clinical studies including 30,000 participants, and was stable in multiple nutrient blends, at high temperatures and during extreme manufacturing processes that would otherwise affect active ingredients.

“Our goal was to combine our customers’ variety of needs for solubility, temperature resistance and clarity,” Leduc said.

Alchem USA is part of Alchem International, which claims to be the largest manufacturer in India of herbal extracts and their purified derivatives.
