ChromaDex, Phenomenex team up on testing offerings
“Because of the collaboration between the two—they’ve got the column technology, and we’ve got the standards—we’ve put it all together in a nice, neat package,” Mark Jost, vice president of operations for ChromaDex, told NutraIngredients-USA.

Phenomenex maintains a full-service analytical support laboratory, staffed with application scientists who specialize in method development and customized solutions. This team will optimize methods for ChromaDex reference standards, including working with a variety of sample matrices and will in many cases include the use of Phenomenex's core-shell particle technology and Kinetex® columns.
Testing demand on the rise
Demand for testing standards and methods is strong, and will only continue to rise, Jost said.
“CGMPs are now fully enforced. The number of 483s are increasing; the number of inspections are increasing. So it’s putting everyone industry on notice that, hey, it’s time make sure you are in compliance. That’s twofold: one is raw material identity testing and the other is finished product testing. For raw material identity you need to have a reference basis, and for finished product testing you have to have a reference standard.
“So people are doing more testing. It is raising the industry from the level where it was to hopefully a significantly higher level by compliance with cGMPs,” he said.
Chromadex serves testing needs in the natural products industry as well as in the field of animal health cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.
