USP verifies Valensa’s Parry Organic Spirulina

Parry Organic Spirulina Ingredient becomes the first spirulina to be be certified under the United States Pharmacopoeia Dietary Ingredient Verification Program (USP D-IVP), Valensa International has announced.

Parry Nutraceuticals has earned the authorization to use the USP Verified Mark on product labels and Certificates of Analysis (CofAs).

“We’re very proud to have made this investment in USP DIVP certification,”​ said Dr. Rudi E. Moerck, President & CEO of Valensa. “The United States Pharmacopoeia is the global standard of product quality and safety and while the investment in these meeting their guidelines is substantial, we feel that consumer requirements for quality and safety assurance are growing and that we had to move to meet those needs – particularly for an ingredient like spirulina.”

“Unlike many dietary supplements, which are taken in milligram doses, many consumers use spirulina like a food – sometimes taking 5 grams or more per day. This makes it particularly important that we focus on quality and safety since even small amounts of impurities can have an impact.”
