Herbalife posts blistering end to year with Q4 profits up 22%
Direct sales supplement giant Herbalife has posted a blistering set of fourth quarter results.

Net income rose 22.1% to $105.4m, while group net sales increased 20% and volume growth topped 23% in the three months to December 31, 2011.

For the full year 2011, Herbalife reported net sales of $3.5bn, up 26% on 2010.

Adjusted net income surged 35% to $413.3m.

Chief executive Michael O. Johnson said: "The momentum in our business continued throughout 2011 as we set new records in net sales, earnings per share, and free cash flow.”

Los Angeles-based Herbalife, which moved into its 81st country last week ( Uruguay), was founded by entrepreneur Mark Hughes in California in 1980.

Herbalife markets and sells its products through a network of more than two million independent distributors. These distributors then sell Herbalife products to end consumers.
