Minnesota-based ingredient supplier, Humanetics Corporation, has teamed up with major dietary supplements manufacturer, Chattem, to launch a weight loss formula the companies say can dramatically increase weight loss rates.

The product in question – Dexatrim Max Complex 7 – contains 7-Keto, Humanetics’ weight loss ingredient that clinical trials have shown triple weight loss rates than control groups employing regular diet and exercise methods.

7-Keto (3-acetyl-7-oxo dehydroepiandrosterone) is a non-stimulant, thermogenic agent derived from DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone), and produced by the adrenal glands. Its production declines with as the human body ages.

In the body 7-keto stimulates the activity of three thermogenic enzymes – Glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, Malic Enzyme and Fatty Acyl CoA Oxidase.

This affect has been shown to increase metabolism by 5.4 per cent in clinical studies, and independent trials conducted by Peak Wellness Center and Minnesota Applied Research Center support its weight loss potential.

“Weight loss and weight management continue to be a huge health concern and social issue for American consumers,” said Nutra Bridge president, Scott Steil, on behalf of Humanetics.

And manufacturers are still highly interested in the weight loss market given its size and steady performance over the years, with a current market value of $1.8 billion according to Nutrition Business Journal.”

He added: “The fact that 7-Keto is a key ingredient in Chattem’s weight loss product line further strengthens it’s position as one of the best weight loss ingredients available to consumers today.”

The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey of 2005-2006 found 32.7 percent of US adults 20 years and older were overweight, 34.3 percent obese and 5.9 percent extremely obese.

The World Health Organization estimates that by 2015, there will be more than 1.5 billion overweight consumers, incurring health costs beyond $117 billion per year in the US alone.

Obesity is linked to a number of other diseases including type 2 diabetes, some cancers, hypertension, stroke and osteoarthritis.

A recent study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine reported 90 percent of men and 70 percent of women will eventually become overweight.

Humanetics range includes a dairy extractfor inflammation and joint health, a plant extract called pinitol designed to boost bodily glucose transport and creatine uptake in muscles.
