American Biosciences is introducing a wheat germ derived supplement
in the US, developed in Hungary to help regulate cellular
metabolism and support immune health.

The New Jersey company says it is the first to offer Avé to the US market. Avé contains the ingredient Avemar, which has been the subject of more than 20 studies published in peer reviewed journals. Avemar contains standardized amounts of DMBQ (di-methoxy-substituted benzoquinones), a naturally occurring compound that helps regulate the processes of cellular metabolism and regulate the immune system. The patented process involves fermenting wheat germ with baker's yeast at a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius for around 18 hours, with continuous aerating and stirring. The liquid is then separated, fine filtered, evaporated, boiled and dried. As well as showing that it can stimulate the immune system, studies have indicated that the resultant material can inhibit metastases, whereby malignant tumor cells spread to the neighboring cells and organs and can cause secondary tumors, which can be resistant to chemotherapy and may not be surgically removed. "Once-a-day usage of Avé has been shown to support healthy cell metabolic regulation in vulnerable cells, and to promote immune system modulation resulting in both healthy cellular and humoral (Th1/Th2) immune system balance," said American Biosciences.
