GTC raises focus on supplements

GTC Nutrition, a business unit of the corn-based sweetners and
starches company Corn Products International, is raising its focus
on the dietary supplements market with a new appointment to head up
this side of its business.

Ken Bender, previously western regional sales manager at Pharmachem Laboratories, and currently technical sales agent for GTC in the western US, will become the firm's national account manager for dietary supplements, a newly created position.

"The dietary supplement market is experiencing tremendous growth in North America and, as such, this segment is a key focus of our product line,"​ said Patrick Smith, president of GTC Nutrition​.

Ingredients offered to the supplement sector include the NutraFlora short-chain fructooligosaccharides prebiotic fiber, Aquamin natural calcified mineral source, CalciLife prebiotic mineral formulation, Natureal oat bran concentrate and Xylitol natural polyol.

GTC said that while thesupplement market has always been important to the firm, a new manager will strengthen customer relationships and develop innovative opportunities within the market.

"Ultimately, we hope to increase our brand recognition in this sector which will most certainly have a positive impact on sales,"​ said Trina O'Brien, marketing and public relations specialist at GTC.
