Clearly Canadian weighs up sports sector

Drinks manufacturer Clearly Canadian Beverage Corporation is
considering development of a line of fitness waters to replace a
contract with sports brand Reebok, likely to terminate at the end
of year.

Clearly Canadian received a license from Reebok in 2001 to manufacture, distribute and sell a Reebok branded fitness water in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.

However the Vancouver-based firm recently said that it does not expect to meet the minimum sales required by the Reebok contract by December 31, 2003. Reebok has recently advised the company that if it does not satisfy its 2003 minimum net sales requirements under the license agreement, it will not renew the contract.

Clearly Canadian will consider developing its own line of fitness water beverage products and/or formulating such a product line for other potential customers.

The company already markets a sparkling flavored water, Clearly Canadian O+2 and Tre Limone, which are distributed in the United States, Canada and various other countries.
