The faddish low carb appeal reaches the beverage marketplace with Labatt USA this week unveiling its new, low carbohydrate beer called Rock Green Light, to hit shelves nationwide on 1 October this year.

Rock Green Light is part of the Rolling Rock family, marketed and brewed in the US by Labatt USA. A premium light lager, Rock Green Light is the second low carbohydrate beer to market.

"What is missing in the marketplace for low carb beers is full flavor, and Rock Green Light will deliver on all counts," said Steve Cahillane, president of Labatt USA.

In development for six months, Rock Green Light has less than 2.6 grams of carbohydrates and less than 92 calories. The drink will be packaged in the painted, longneck green bottles synonymous with Rolling Rock and will also be available in cans and draft.

Labatt USA said this week that the beer will be rolled out to 40 markets in early October on the back of a 'dynamic marketing campaign'.
