Metagenics is withdrawing a fatty acid supplement made by Pan Pharmaceuticals, the Australian firm involved in a major recall last month due to major safety concerns, from the Canadian market.

Health Canada said that the Canadian distributor has voluntarily recalled the product, New EPA-DHA Extra Strength Enteric-Coated capsules, but that it knew of no other approved products made by Pan Pharmaceuticals available on the Canadian market.

It is however advising consumers to check labels on supplement packages in case they are made by the Australian firm. More than 1500 Pan products, mainly OTC herbal and vitamin supplements, were recalled in Australia after the country's drug agency found the firm was using unlabeled ingredients and substandard manufacturing processes.

A list of products recalled in Australia is available at the TGA website.
