for its new Omega-3 flax product lines.

Natunola Health, a division of NutriBios Corp, the Sentex Systems subsidiary, reported that it has signed an exclusive sales and distribution agreement with L.V. Lomas for its new Omega-3 flax product lines in Canada.

Devin Chan, marketing director of L.V. Lomas, said that adding the products to Lomas' range would help capitalize on a rapidly growing functional food market. L.V. Lomas distributes specialty chemical and related products across Canada.

Natunola Health's Omega-3 flax products are derived from its patented flaxseed dehulling and processing technology. The company has recently built a flaxseed dehulling plant in Winchester, Ontario, to produce dehulled flaxseed ingredients such as flax kernel, flax hull, flax flour, flax meal, flax fibers and flax gum.

Flax kernel is a primary source of Omega-3 fatty acids, which may contribute to retinal and brain development and may play a major role in reducing cardiovascular disease. Flax hull and other flax ingredients contain very high concentration of lignans and soluble and insoluble fibers, which may be useful in the preventive and treatment of certain diseases such as breast cancer, prostate cancer and colon cancer.

L.V. Lomas also distributes specialty food products for Archer Daniels Midland, Cargill, J.M. Huber, J.R. Rettenmaier & Sohne, and BASF.
