US Nutraceuticals has acquired the astaxanthin business of La Haye Laboratories, a Washington-based manufacturer of branded dietary supplement ingredients.

Founded in 1986, La Haye makes novel, high-potency antioxidants, including its patented astaxanthin and xanthin ingredients, for dietary supplements and cosmeceutical skincare.

"This acquisition further entrenches our position in the marketplace for proprietary, branded ingredients offering novel characteristics to consumer products manufacturers," said US Nutraceuticals president Tony Evans.

La Haye Laboratories president Larry Line said the acquisition is a powerful and positive development for both companies. "After the unfortunate death of our company founder, Peter La Haye Senior, we have evaluated partnering opportunities to realise Mr La Haye's vision of making astaxanthin available to consumers worldwide. US Nutraceuticals adds the pioneering scientific technology, marketing strength and business development resources needed to optimize the leading positions of La Haye Laboratories' core brands."

US Nutraceuticals makes supercritical fluid extracts for the dietary supplement, nutraceutical and functional food industries.
