MWW, one of the leading public relations firms in the US, has unveiled plans to create a new division specialising in PR for the nutraceutical and dietary supplements industries.

The Nutritionals and Functional Foods Practice will provide brand development, corporate positioning, consumer awareness and integrated marketing communications to the nutraceutical, nutritional supplement, functional foods and related industries, according to MWW's president Michael W. Kempner.

The MWW Group already has a number of important clients in the nutraceuticals and functional foods area, including Bally Total Fitness' nutritional supplements and meal replacement products, Kemin, Natural Health Sciences and US Nutraceuticals.

Larry Zoeller, senior vice president of MWW's Chicago office, and Matt Messinger, senior account supervisor at the firm's corporate office in East Rutherford, will jointly manage the new practice.

Zoeller has managed campaigns for Leiner Health Products, the Council for Responsible Nutrition, Indena, Eastman Chemical, Chattem-Sunsource and Nutricept, while Messinger oversees the Bally Total Fitness account and manages public relations, financial media relations and consumer marketing initiatives for the fitness retailer's national line of health and food products and dietary supplements.
