ConsumerLab.com, the independent tester of health and nutrition
products, has signed an agreement with HealthGate Data Corporation,
the publisher of The Natural Pharmacist, an electronic encyclopedia
and database of supplements and herbs.

"Our subscribers can now use TNP to learn whether a natural product is right for them and then access ConsumerLab.com's product reviews to see which brands are best. With its comprehensive, up-to-date and easy-to-understand information on natural health products, TNP meets our tough standards for unbiased, high-integrity and evidence-based information."

Following the agreement between the two companies, subscribers to ConsumerLab.com will have be able to access TNP's information on vitamins, supplements and natural health remedies, and access its database of interactions between herbal and traditional drugs.

Reece said that more information herbal products - especially when taken in conjunction with traditional drugs - was vital for consumer safety. He cited recent statistics which showed that around 50 per cent of Americans purchase herbal supplements although more than 70 per cent of them never mention their use of these supplements to their physicians, potentially increasing health risks.
