LifeSmart Nutrition Technologies, formerly known as Upland Energy, has announced that it has acquired LifeSmart Nutrition, the Utah-based company, as a wholly owned subsidiary.
LifeSmart Nutrition was formed in 1997 to compete in the growing $86 billion nutraceutical industry. The company's products use a soft chewable delivery system similar to that in many sweets, and it claims that great taste and convenience are factors which contribute to the popularity of its products' success.
The products are marketed under the LifeSmart Nutrition label as well as under private label arrangements. LifeSmart has developed a proprietary manufacturing process for the chews and has filed patent applications relating to several of its products.
