BotanicLab releases official statement about PC SPES

BotanicLab has released an official statement on the current status of PC SPES, the prostate health product which was voluntarily recalled in the US in early February and which has now been recalled in two other countries.
The initial US recall was issued in early February when the California Department of Health (CDH) found PC SPES tested for warfarin, a prescription blood thinner. Then it was found that another BotanicLab product, SPES, contained alprazolam, also known as Xanax.
The company says that the SPES product did contain alprazolam, which the company believes came from one of its suppliers. Furthermore, BotanicLab has reported that the material CDH found may have been a phytocoumarin, a compound naturally synthesised in various green plants that may appear like warfarin in laboratory tests.
Canada and Ireland have issued warnings and recalls for both products, and BotanicLab has recalled the products from Canada. The Irish Medicines Board is believed to have issued its recall based on Health Canada's report.
BotanicLab says that PC SPES is currently undergoing commercial and academic testing, and once the results come in, they will be shared with CDH and the public. The company has also instituted a rigorous quality control process, beginning at the raw material stage.
