Indian nutraceutical firm British Biologicals is to launch a range of products in the protein segment, strengthening its already impressive 70 per cent share of the nutritional supplement market.

The new products include Kids-Pro, a nutrition supplement health drink for children aged two to ten, and a new flavour of the company's well-known D-Protein product, Columbian Coffee Ecstasy.

The company said it is also working on a protein supplement for cancer patients to help in weight maintenance during radiation and chemotherapy.

British Biologicals is also planning to bring out 18 disease-based nutraceutical products in the next two to three years, including products for ageing and cholesterol control.

The company has also signed an agreement with a Finnish firm Raisio to market its cholesterol control product in Third World countries.

Despite the name, British Botanicals has never been present in the UK market, although this will change over the next two years with the addition of both Britain and the US to company's nine-strong list of export markets.
